“Ailleurs”
In a post-globalized world of rapid technological change, climate emergency, and thickening borders, and virtual boundaries, ailleurs (elsewhere) connect us to a universal idea of displacement: an escape both exterior and interior; both physical and figurative.
“Ailleurs” is to be somewhere between here and there. Therefore, elsewhere is a remote and undefined place, inherent in it is the will to travel, to the sweet escape of evasion. The journey begins between the threshold of the gallery and the other side of the black mirror of the television, set next to the window.
For Antonio Guerra, Filippo Minelli, Márcio Vilela, and Pedro Gramaxo, the common ground is somewhere, and photography is the tool for making the journey possible.
